Death By Chocolate: Tuesday, February 16 from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. If you don’t get enough chocolate for Valentine’s Day, prepare for more! Make your own dipped chocolate cheesecake pops, sample our Chocolate fondue fountain, and run a chocolate relay race (winners will receive prizes). This free program is for teens and tweens in grades 5 -12. Register now in the Youth Services Dept.
Roll It, Take It, Leave It, Move It: Know Your Employee Retirement Plan Options. The Westford Job Seekers Networking (WJSN) group meets weekly from 2-3:30 p.m. at the Library. On Wednesday, February 17, Marshall-Ben Tisdale – a Financial Advisor, will be presenting “Moving On? Should Your Retirement Savings Do the Same?” How you handle your 401(k), pension, or other employer-sponsored retirement plan when you leave a job is one of the most important financial decisions you can make. Open to all and it’s FREE.
Chinese New Year Drop-In Craft: Wednesday, February 17 from 10 a.m. to noon. Drop-in anytime over a 2 - hour period for a fun-filled, creative, “Make a Dragon” craft with your friends and family. Free! No registration necessary.
“Don’t Bite Your Tongue: How to Foster Rewarding Relationships with Your Adult Children”: Wednesday, February 17 at 7 p.m. in the Meeting Room. Author Dr. Ruth Nemzoff will discuss her book which counters the popular belief that parents must let go of their adult children and silence themselves. ~Dr. Ruth Nemzoff is a resident scholar at Brandeis University's Women's Studies Research Center. ~She lectures on parenting adult children, relationships, and family dynamics. ~Her papers are archived at the Schlesinger Library at Harvard University where she holds a doctorate in social policy. ~She has served three terms in the New Hampshire legislature and was New Hampshire Deputy Commissioner of Health and Welfare. She is the mother of four adult children and lives in Newton with her husband, Harris Berman. Appropriate for ages 18 and up. Registration will begin on February 1st in the Information Services Department.
Hats Off to Families with Johnny the K: Thursday, February 18, at 3 p.m. John Kelleher, nationally acclaimed musician and teacher -- along with his 12 string guitar and unique collection of costumed hats, masks and disguises -- inspires and educates children through his spirited and interactive performance style. In every show his message is clear: “Each one of us can make a difference, in school, in our community, and in the world. Open to all ages, tickets ($2) for adults & children available now.
Library Rear Entry Construction Project. Patrons who use the rear parking lot, have strollers or wheelchairs are being routed to the Fine Arts Emergency door. While signs will clearly mark this entrance and egress, patrons can locate this temporary door by orienting themselves towards the three white birches at the rear of the library. While patrons will be temporarily inconvenienced by noise, dust and re-routing, the resulting safety improvements and energy savings for the Library Department will be significant.
