YA Gaming Tournament!
Wii Got Game! Do you? Teens, show off your Wii gaming skills at our first ever “Gaming Tournament”. The Tournament will be held in the Meeting Room on Saturday, March 6 from 1 – 3 p.m. Win prizes and enjoy free snacks to boot. Register now for this FREE event in Youth Services.
"Shenanigans" with award-winning Storyteller, Diane Edgecomb:
Friday, March 19 at 4 p.m. There will be plenty of laughter during an hour of animated retelling of Ireland's best loved gems. Diane Edgecomb, known for her vivid comedic style, delights with her interpretations of these Irish Classics. This performance will also be accompanied by musician Margot Chamberlain playing the Celtic harp. Tickets ($2.00) are available now in the Youth Services Department. For ages four and up.
Global Road Warrior is a comprehensive database that covers over 175 different countries. Topics include the culture, politics, business practices, and economy of each country, along with, security, health and medical information. Documents presented range from: maps, photographs, images of country flags. and even local recipes. There’s even a fascinating link called “stereotypes” under the “Society and Culture” section!
This database is accessible from the Library or your home or office with your Westford Library card number. Simply go to our webpage www.westfordlibrary.org and follow the link for “Databases” which is located in the left hand column. Once you connect to the databases page, there is a list of databases arranged by subject. Click on the subject “Country Studies” and you will find the “Connect from home” link for this database. You will be prompted to enter the Library barcode number from the back of your Westford card.
This is a valuable resource for anyone doing research on a country, from elementary school students, to college students planning to study abroad, to international business travelers, or recreational travelers.
State and Federal Tax Forms:
We still have a large supply of 2009 tax forms available in the Reference area. If you prefer, you can also go on-line and print out federal forms from the IRS website http://www.irs.gov/ and state forms from the Massachusetts Department of revenue http://www.mass.gov; click on the tab “For Residents”, scroll down to “Consumer” and click on the subheading “Taxes”.
What Else is Happening at the Library?:
Monday, March 8 at 6:30 p.m.: Pajama Time drop-in for preschoolers and their families. Children may come in pajamas and bring a favorite animal or blanket. Expect some “surprise” guests !
Tuesday, March 9 at 10 a.m.: Advanced Internet Workshop. Registration is required. Contact Information Services.
Wednesday, March 10 at 2 p.m.: Westford Job Seekers weekly meeting. All are welcome.
Thursday, March 11 at 7:30 p.m.: The J.V. Fletcher Library Adult Book Discussion Group will meet to discuss “My Life in France”, by Julia Child.
